<br>It baffles me as to why Rockstar would even consider a first-person mode for GTA V. Perhaps it was the success of open-world shooters like Far Cry 3 that inspired them to do this, which is understandable. However, Far Cry 3 is a shooter. It’s built as a shooter and the shooting is a huge part of the game’s appeal. Sure, there’s exploration, but the action is Far Cry’s appeal by far. Grand Theft Auto V, for all its gritty action and violence, is not a shooter. Its action comes from something less primal and more intelligent. If anything, this first-person shooter setup does more to pander to the FPS crowd than to thoughtfully expand on what Grand Theft Auto has always been about.<br><br>The content of these games shouldn't matter. The greater principle at stake here is the idea that people should be free to express their ideas, a value clearly held dearly by movie-goers but not so much by the gaming community. Society has spoken about movies: we want any film, regardless of how controversial the subject matter, to be available to the public in an exercise of our right to free speech and ideal of free expression. The question remains when, if ever, will society feel the same way about video games?<br><br> <br>"After many months of designing, testing, rewriting and re-testing, we settled on the four-player structure that you will experience in the game. On top of that, Activision revealed that the number of pre-orders for Call of Duty: Ghosts have been a little lower than expected - subsequently blaming the discrepancy on confusion over the next generation launch. Rockstar soared back to the forefront of gaming, shouting from atop the skyscrapers and taking off into the stratosphere. In this current gaming climate of endless re-releases and remasters, it was only a matter of time that Rockstar would cave. Grand Theft Auto V was confirmed for release on Playstation 4 and Xbox One, with 1080p/30fps graphics and numerous tweaks to gameplay. But one new feature stood out: a first-person mode . For a series that’s always been a third-person endeavor, the FPS-style setup caught many gamers’ eyes, some even claiming it to make this GTA V "the definitive version." [https://GTA5Play.com/ GTA 5 patch notes|https://gta5play.com/] V on PS4 and Xbox One is likely to be the definitive version of the game, but this first-person mode is a disposable and pointless inclusion, a shameless stand-in for true expansion on the already enormous open-world game.<br><br>But saying that this dimension is "a game-changer" is overzealous. The first-person perspective in Grand Theft Auto V constantly evokes an aura of novelty. It doesn’t fit in. Grand Theft Auto V, and the Grand Theft Auto series in general, was never built for first-person. Many of the actions benefit from a more peripheral viewpoint, as you can attackers easier and see a nearby getaway vehicle without fiddling around with the camera too much. Firefights are not the focus of GTA, nor are the driving segments. Grand Theft Auto’s appeal has always been the open-world. Moving around a city, launching off a ramp, shooting enemies, and making a clean getaway are not that valuable on their own, but the cohesion between these elements is what make GTA into what it is. The first-person perspective disjoints that synergy; it frames the firefights and vehicles as the most core elements, when they’ve only been pieces of a bigger puzzle.<br><br> <br>At launch, there will be five separate heists, comprised of at least 20 missions. From open-world crime operas to open-range spaghetti westerns, from substance abusing detectives to detectives who draw a self-righteous line at adultery, Rockstar Games's reputation precedes it. Where most game companies would be content with one triple-A franchise, Rockstar has cultivated several over its 14-year history - Grand Theft Auto , Red Dead Redemption , Max Payne , and L.A. Noire among the present, and Agent waiting patiently for the c

Unsurprisingly, development of the new mode was made possible because of the new consoles (and PC) and the power they offer. With development time representing a huge factor, implementing the new mode was much more complex that just taking the pre-existing camera and moving it to the characters' eye-level. And with Rockstar being, well, Rockstar, you either do it right or not at

The NPD's results also shared an 81% drop-off in sales for previous generation of platforms with the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii, while sales of the 3DS and PlayStation Vita have marked a 21% decline. In terms of software, physical game sales accounted for $212.7 million, seeing a 10% decrease year-over-year from $235.6 mill

Luke enjoyed the relationship he had between the other two actors and Ogg actually brought up an interesting point: the motion capture staff team were, according to him, "these genius kids" that came up with unique and creative ways to represent certain objects in the game, such as using apple crates to represent trailer st

Overall, The NPD Group explained that consumers spent $605.2 million on gaming products at retailers in January, marking a 4% decrease from the same time last year ($627.6 million in January 2015). Following a busy holiday season filled with new releases, January is typically seen as a bit of a "slower" time of the year for new game releases, with the last month's results from game sales tracker The NPD Group posting their list of the top selling titles for January 2016, which is largely dominated by many familiar fa

The Grand Theft Auto V panel at NYCC was a gathering of passionate fans and the amazing motion capture actors: Ned Luke who plays Michael, Shawn "Solo" Fonteno who plays Franklin and Steven Ogg who plays Trevor. The panel naturally began with a bang, as Ogg threw T-shirts into the audience, riling them up for handouts and autographs for a good several minu

The one new release to chart for the month was LEGO Marvel's Avengers - in one note however, The NPD Group explained that if the chart were organized purely by the highest-selling SKU (rather than combined platform sales), last month's _Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam _ for 3DS would have charted at

However, before we all get too hyped-up about the presented possibility and despite Vern's track record, let's once again reiterate that this is by no means a confirmation -- the user himself has reiterated that in his post. Shall this rumor holds any merit and turns into reality, then that's obviously great. But in the meantime, it's for the best to just wait for the official announcement that GTAV is indeed coming to Nintendo Swi

Making sure the three protagonists continue to feel unique was another point of concern for Rockstar. In third-person, where you're looking down at them, you can clearly see who you're playing as and what's going on around them but that's not as easy to replicate in first-person. So the studio adjusted the animations to fit the new mode: Franklin, Michael and Trevor all have their own idle animations (and probably different hand models), and if a character is speaking to you when you look over at them, you'll see they're looking back at you, making eye-cont

Until GTA V releases, our best look at the new first-person mode will come from the new trailer showing it off. Needless to say (but here goes) it's very impressive. Has this new feature made the game a guaranteed purchase for some of you? How about heists in first-per

All those animations are new when you switch to first-person, because it all has to be animated to the camera, to make it feel like a proper first-person experience that I think people would expect. All the timings have to be re-evaluat

The upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Grand Theft Auto V won't just include new content for new and returning players to dig into. While that, combined with the improved visuals and bigger multiplayer were probably enough to entice many to make the return trip, Rockstar has implemented an entirely new feature for the upcoming version, which is sure to push people over the edge into "well, I guess I really need to get this again" territ

As sterling as the contents of the collection may be, however (we're already anxious to see Edition 2 ), there's no confusing Rockstar's real focus for the rest of 2012 and into 2013: Grand Theft Auto V .
